Jogging with a stroller is NO JOKE

Now that the weather has finally gotten nice, we've been enjoying a lot more time outside. I've been getting back into running, and the boys have been going with me around the neighborhood with their scooters. Last night, I loaded Lorelai into the jogging stroller and we all went for a run while Adam made dinner.

The way she crosses her legs in the stroller just kills me. She's just chillin' all cute and stuff while I'm willing my body to keep moving.

But HOLY MOLY, it was rough! I don't know if it was the junk food I ate at lunch weighing me down or the yellow haze of pollen messing with my lungs (or both), but I was huffing and puffing WAY more than normal. Not that I normally run with Lorelai in the jogging stroller anyway--I really prefer to run without it. I mean, who wants to make running more difficult? Not me! Plus, my jogging app doesn't magically account for the extra calories I MUST be burning from pushing a 35lb kid in a stroller to help motivate me...

Side note: the last time I went on a good run with her, I ended thinking I had some sort of breast disease because it felt like someone was stabbing my right boob for like 4 days in a row. I was thisclose to calling my doctor. Only later did I realize that it was probably just radiating pain because my pec muscle was sore from the way I was pushing the stroller with my right arm as I ran (lame).

And this was the time I learned my lesson on how to NOT hold onto the jogging stroller...

But she had fun "chasing" after the boys, they had fun trying to leave me in their dust, and we all got some fresh (-ish--quality debatable with the previously mentioned pollen onslaught) air and exercise, so I'll quit my whining. Until the next time. :)

  1. Stroller jogging is so much more difficult than it looks. And there really needs to be an app for the adding weight we're moving around!!

  2. LOL, a jogging stroller is the only thing my son said he wanted (they have their first child due in May). I'll have to warn him that it's not as easy as it looks. ;)

    1. Don't get me wrong--I love having it and Lorelai loves riding in it, but it's a beast for sure. Although a smaller child will surely be easier to push :)

  3. Ugh I detest running with the stroller...insert craiglist treadmill find here... it has saved my cardio (and butt?) and I don't feel guilty just walking with the stroller now!!

    1. Oh man, if I had a treadmill...jealous! But if I had one, I probably wouldn't even get out with to walk as much, so I guess not having one forces me to go out. Sigh :)

  4. Go you! I have a hard enough time taking a walk with just 2 kids. And I can't jog without a stroller let alone with one! Lol.

    1. Thanks! I have to keep telling myself that even if I'm not running as much or as fast as I would without it, I'm still moving. Walking + wrangling kids is a valid exercise, I don't care who you ask :)

  5. I almost always have to take Addison with me in the jogging stroller, it is brutal! I feel so light and fast when I can sneak in a run sans toddler! That and my jogger seems to have a bent wheel so occasionally it shakes like crazy when I start running!

    1. Ha, that's a good point--the next time I go without the stroller, I'll feel light and fast. Perspective: it's a great thing :)

  6. You make me laugh! :) my friend just gave me a jogging stroller and I think I am going to pass it over to my mom for now. I am not the most coordinated person and I could just see myself planting face first in the concrete! Lol. I hope you're having a great day! Xoxo

    1. Ha! It definitely takes getting used to, but it's good for walks, too...especially if your neighborhood has uneven sidewalks like mine. Just be sure to keep the wrist strap on. I have visions of face-planting on a downhill while the stroller keeps going. Yikes! Thankfully, I've managed to avoid that so far.
